Is it normal that your web agency charges you for a meeting to discuss new features development that will grant them more work (and income)?

I was surprised when trying to arrange a meeting with them to discuss future improvements to the site I was wasked how we would like to be billed for the meeting.

All the good companies/freelancers are booked up for more than 4 months,

Its mean they have lots of work because of reasonable price and quality Work,

Great article guys. At Door4 (www.door4.co.uk - sorry for the shameless plug!) we've been encouraging our clients and some new prospects to work in this way with great success!

We've been actively promoting what we call our "Website Director Plan" for at least 18 months and have developed many strong working partnerships as a result. This way of working helps us work as a strategy partner rather than a supplier and it's good to see this method is catching on.

We don't discourage project work, but where we can we do encourage people to think about the big picture in this way.

The problem I have is finding good designers that are available. Been wanting to do a redesign but all the good companies/freelancers are booked up for more than 4 months.

A website definitely requires perpetual attention. For some businesses that might be one small update per month, but really if your web designer can provide SEO or other internet marketing services, they can be a great asset.
