I have this strange behavior when I visit a site for the first time, but I think that is because I am weird.

When a friend recommends me a post, article or such, I read it or put it in my Instapaper. If I directly read it I will explore the site and scrutinize every bit of it to see if should add it to my RSS feeds of choice. If I find it interesting enough for me, I emphasize, for me I do add it to my google reader, and I am engaged to the site through the RSS until I find it is no more interesting.

When the second happen (read it in my Instapaper for iPhone) the site is second, I do not even see it, but if I REALLY REALLY like the article/post or whatever I send myself a reminder to check the website and the exploring process begin again.

I like this post and I am beginning my exploration process of you site.

Apart from showing related articles (which is your own site recommending other topics to users), I completely agree. Never on a first visit will I reach to someone's rss or bookmark that site. If I come across it more than once, and the different articles appeal to me, I'll consider bookmarking the site or subscribing to the css.

When I visit a blog, after reading the article I don't look on the homepage. Either because I received the article through a friend and I'm content with the information it held, or because I looked on Google for a specific piece of info and I don't care for the person's other writings (at the time of searching I just want to solve my problem).

Good article, will be shared ;)
