Description:
Why do clients seemingly make idiotic decisions? How come they fail to ‘get it’? Learn how to improve communication with your clients and enhance your working relationship. Be more successful at pitching ideas, getting design sign off and ensuring projects stay on track. Don’t let your projects become a battleground.

Hey all,
a bit more background on our talk. The talk will be done by myself and my colleague Marcus Lillington. Both of us present the longest running web design podcast over at Boagworld.com. If you haven't heard of it then check it out.

The presentation will be light hearted (we don't really think clients are stupid) and yet we should cover some valuable stuff. Hopefully we will answer some important questions such as...

1.How can I be more successful when pitching to a client?
2.Are there ways to avoid design by committee?
3.Why do my projects always seem to suffer from scope creep?
4.How do I overcome internal politics?
5.What should I do when a client wants something ridiculous?
6.When is it time to walk away?
7.How can I best present and justify my design work?
8.How should I deal with conflict over payment?
9.How can I encourage repeat business?
10. How do I better communicate with management?

Hope that helps.

I selfishly want to hear this. I and my partner have had the unfortunate displeasure of dealing with 'stupid' clients exclusively. I think we should include a patience package as part of our work. The dumber you are, the more the more upscale a 'patience package' you will need - what do you think?

Coming from someone new to web design and client interaction, this talk will give me valuable insight into what to expect. How to deal with certain scenarios and how better to present and communicate my project ideas.

Yes yes we want to work on client communications!

This should be essential viewing for small design houses moving up from working on projects for single decision maker owner managers into larger corporate accounts where there are different motivations across the personalities you must deal with to ensure a successful project.

I get through long hours of cycle training listening to these guys. I love their podcast and this topic gets me shouting :) Clients are dumb, but why? What about when we leave the office and become clients, are we stupid then?

I'm a consultant and run into clients with varied levels of web-site-know-how. I'm interested in listening to Paul and Markus's take on stupid people. I like to call them "Ass Clowns".
