Boagworld is the web design blog of Paul (the Wurzel) Boag who lives in the heart of rural Dorset. He produces a weekly podcast with Marcus (pop star) Lillington on all things relating to building and running websites. They also run web design agency - Headscape.

Headscape web of shame

Every web design company has its secrets and Headscape is no exception.

At Headscape we pride ourselves on our professionalism and quality of work. However many of team members have embarrassing secrets best left hidden. However, that is not in my nature so here they are for all to see…

  • Marcus Lillington built his bands website in Dreamweaver. Don’t expect it to validate (or work).
  • Pete Boston is now one of our project managers but in the dot com boom he used to slice tables with the best of us.
  • Craig Rowe maybe an excellent developer but his site is hosted at his mates house. Think yourself lucky if it is online when you access it.
  • Dave McDermid has the talent to build GetSignOff but never finished his own website.
  • Mez Hopking lets the side down with his occasional drunken photo.
  • Rob Borley (a project manager) is so busy running his takeout website that he hardly has time for anymore.
  • Ed Merritt saves all his best work for his freelance career.

    I think the main reason is after 9 hours staring at code / html / css, sometimes when you get home, you just want to do something else. This makes progress very slow.
    @MattCurry – I wouldn’t read too far into the comments on my site, that was written a long time ago, and the version of CMS4 used for Apetito was up to date by the time we went live, it was just in development while the site was. :-)

    :-D don’t fret, CMS4 is now a lovely thing that I rarely ever swear loudly at.
    I now have to stop reading vendors website and get back to work.

    Ay up, I think if you are going to cuss Marky Mark down for using Dreamweaver, you should also mention that was built using the WYSIWYG tool, which I assume you meant looking at the source code :)
    Dreamweaver in code view is an intuitive and capable editor, which doesn’t deserve the bad press when its used properly…
