Macs... don't you love them :)

Published on: September 21, 2006 by Paul Boag

For fear of incurring even more wrath from the mac community, I felt that I just had to share this video I have found on YouTube with you all.

If you have seen the recent advertising campaign from Apple then you will really appreciate this biting response. However, I would like to make it clear that the content of this video in no way represents the views of this author :)

Its worth sticking it out to the end!

    There are more!

Not quite in the same style, but funny nonetheless. I own 2 Macs and I love them, but I understand all the comments people make about them unlike most of the fanboys out there.

Ive seen this one several times over (As well as the others). I guess its really a matter of opinion, I work in an IT department where the others use a PC and I use a Mac. Even they didn't find these that amusing. Lame at best. Even if I didn't use a mac - can't they get any more creative than that?

Im not saying that to burst your bubble - I just thought it was really lame. There are much better imitation ads out there.

I have seen better, what do pc users think of macs??? I use both, but not by choice, I have to use a virtual pc so I can use my offices database which is access, and thats it, with the mac I can use typestyle, fireworks, dreamweaver, illustrator, photoshop and so on..... all work seamlessly together, I don't have to worry about crashing or viruses or drivers, everything just works, to coin a phrase, out of the box :)
Come on people, stop ragging on the macs, they are the good guys!
Excellent podcast by the way :)

    Paul:
    I simply can't resist (since I am a Mac user) --
It seems to me that PC users feel the need to make imitation ads poking fun at the Mac community since the PC community gets to experience, on a daily basis, the tragic comedy of PC and Windoze (dys)functionality. I think they are just trying to share their 'angst.' ;-)

Quaint bickering aside, I heartily approve of highlighting the differences between operating systems so that web designers and developers can focus on finding platform-independent ways for delivering content and services to website visitors. The boagworld.com website is a great resource, thanks for the work you do!

The link on your RSS feed was to "Tickle Me Elmo X TMX Elmo" which made me wonder what drugs you were on at the time you posted. Coming here to ask about that I see the fuzzy thing you meant to link to and you know what, the Elmo clip was funny enough to watch for more than 10 seconds.

Yeah, The video may have been better if it really found something better about the PC vs. the Mac. Instead it just ripped on the character of the mac guy and for that I'll have to say this video is Lame. I've used PC's for over 15 years and was a Sys Admin for 2 years and now I only use Macs; there's no reason not to.

Paul, it looks like you have in(advert)ently upset the mac community (again ;) )

  • Post by Mark on September 24, 2006 6:19 AM

Once again a non creative PC geek stole a great Mac idea and made a mess of it. Such a shame...

And for all you mac lovers, and probably designers to boot, you can relate to this one. Call it retaliation.

these do a great job of making the pc guy look like a dick. great job paul.

Perhaps mac users should take the whole thing a little less personally and not be so defensive. It's just a matter of opinion and everyone rips on windows too. Laugh at the joke and make one back. It's community spirit!

I think this is pretty funny Paul. Even as a Mac lover, I have thought the new Mac ads have an arrogant tone. It is nice to see somebody poking a little fun.

Even though I had to post a retaliation video I understand paul is just trying to get a rise out of his mac loving fans. All 3% of them *LOL*

At the end of the day nobody can bash Windows like Microsoft themselves http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/925568.mspx ;o)

I thought that video was pretty funny, but what's even funnier is I just installed windows xp on my mac. I have two computers in one. I can even copy/paste from one to the other and share the same folders. Just because crappy windows cubicle computers are purchased in large numbers by massive corporations doesn't mean it's a good or a serious business computer. I really enjoy everything about my mac and I do a lot of serious work with it. It's always been super reliable. Toggling from mac tow windows is like going from a bmw to a buick.

I hate MACS - give me slow and unreliable anyday ;)

I happen to love Macs, but that video cracked me up, I loved the ending!

It's all just a question of taste isn't it? Thoroughbred or mongrel. It's up to you.

    I wonder what they did?

"This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

Maybe Google (the new YouTube) owner is cutting videos that diss on Apple now that their Dr. Eric Schmidt is on the board at both companies?

Does anyone have another link to this?
