Just finally caught up on all your podcasts and cant wait till next weeks.
An interesting view on SEO as its something I’m just getting into.

Mission statements…..Is this not what the military strive on, to keep the company/business in-line/all on the same path of direction.

I’m not sure what you guys would and wouldn’t consider a mission statement, but if you take Wikipedia’s definition: “a formal, short, written statement of the purpose of a company or organization,” then virtually everyone should and does have one.

You could consider the product descriptions on the Home pages of software sites like http://expressionengine.com to be mission statements.

I would even argue that the following text, found on Headscape’s own Home page, could be considered your mission statement:

“The sites we build are accessible to the widest audience, easily updated, and designed to meet your business objectives. We provide design, application development and consultancy.”

Missions statements can be used as a design element to help balance out the page. Short ones can be used alongside an eye-catching image on the Home page to introduce the visitor to the organization.

A mission statement probably shouldn’t be considered pure textual content worthy of its own page, but as long as it’s written in plain English and not lofty language, there’s nothing wrong with having one.
