The d.construct web was awesome. Anytime you get to meet up with other web and discuss the of the web, it is sure to be an inspiring experience. Add to that a great line up of speakers and it is guaranteed to be a memorable day.

I went to the conference knowing very little about web services and with some real concerns about their viability in a real environment. However, a day spent chatting with other developers and listening to the speakers, not only educated me but also made me very excited about the potential.

I spent most of the day interviewing, however only a fraction are used on the show. quality was a constant and background noise a real issue. However, there is loads of great stuff and I have tried to piece it together in such a way that it introduces you to the potential of web services as well as providing you with a sense of the day.

Also in the show…

Also in this week’s show, we the upcoming releases from Friends Of ED with Chris Mills (their senior ). We look at the target.com accessibility case, review a great article by Chris Heilmann and tell you everything you ever wanted to know about designers.

50th episode next week!

Next week’s show going to be entirely based on user submitted questions and comments. To take part simply send your question or comment to paul@boagworld.com or submit an audio comment via the odeo website. Now, I know you guys aren’t (all) great fans of Flash, but this episode of GW gets ‘chipmunked’ in a Flash MP3 player – or which there’s a plethora of out there ;)
You need to adjust the bitrate to a multiple of 11.025 kHz. ;)
    Gotta love it, eh? ;)

  • Hi,
I just installed iPodder on my Ubuntu Linux box and was browsing through the listings. Your topics interested me, so I pulled a few episodes.
You two are awesome. It’s exactly what I need right now. I live in a small town with few techies and fewer still who share my interest in web design. Listening to you both is a wonderfully fun and stimulating way to let my hobby accousticly permeate my day.
I’m also the developer for a local US University Mass Comm Department. Our state has passed legislation requiring accessibility conformity to “section 508″ by spring 2007.
Your casts on accessibility standards has been enormously helpful, informative, and fun.
Thanks for doing what you’re doing, and please keep it up.

  • Hi Paul
Really like the bit on Microformats – I think it was much-needed.
Jeremy’s lunchtime chat was really useful as well – although I think he just has the edge over you – as he was giving away free sandwiches.
    :o)
I really like the new evolution of the design as well, btw.

  • If anyone’s interested I’ve put up a video of Jeff Barr’s speech at d.Construct.
Also, I noticed Ian Forrester posted some videos of d.Construct speakers, as well as an interview with a certain Mr Paul Boag – whoever he is.
