So here I sit in my hotel room at SXSW. Last night was the British Booze up and what a superb evening it turned out to be. In fact the conference as a whole has been incredibly enjoyable. I have been fortunate enough to meet some great people and attend some superb panels.
However, putting together this podcast has been much more challenging. The problem is that it could so easily become tedious if you didn’t manage to attend, full of in jokes and pointless drunkenness.
What we have aimed to do in this week’s show is give you a taste of the SXSW experience. So yes, there is some pointless drunkenness but there are also panellists talking about their presentations and sponsors speaking about their products. We have also tried to give you our own personal opinions of the show. We discuss exactly how useful (or not) the conference is and whether it has simply become too big.
I am not even going to try to produce normal show notes for today’s episode. Partly because the show is somewhat random and also partly because at the time of writing Marcus is still hacking the final format around. However, I am sure you will forgive this unprofessionalism on our part considering we both drank far too much at last night’s party!

this is great. i look forward to the pod cast every week. it helps me get threw at lest one hour a week. but can you put the links to the web sites that were talked about in the podcast. (ie. the stained glass style web site)
I also had an excellent time this year at SXSW. The Booze Up was fantastic and it was good to see you Brits once again.
Thanks for the interview, even if you couldn’t get my panel’s title correct. Maybe next year I can do the same with your panel.

Even after a bender, you guys still rock (maybe more so). And besides, if you’re going to bring it to us, you’ve got to bring the whole thing, right (my way of saying the last five minutes were some of the best, since they captured the ambience)? Congratulations on getting to speak with Coupland — a genius whose work is the first to really reflect the technological and internet-centered age in which we live (though there are others out there trying to follow his lead: Jeff Noon, for instance). Did you get autographs, or is that not “done” at a conference like this one? I certainly would have showed up book in hand asking, but then I’m not a fancy pod cast interview like you guys. Thanks again.

I am considering a SXSW experience this year and wanted to get impressions on the need for the platinum vs gold vs interactive badge. Are there meet ups, after parties, escapades for the interactive crowd outside of the music events, or is it a must to have the platinum badge to experience for the true experience.
