Beijing policy makers say they're eager to encourage greater domestic consumption. Chinese shoppers are famously luxury-happy, flying to Hong Kong and further afield in droves to stock up on Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel and more. All of which means the stage is set for the next great innovation to hit China:

Thanks for that post Paul, always good to hear that people have worked through that stage in their Web Dev career - I think I'm still there.... It always feels like chasing your tail - find client, satisfy client, sign-off client..... oh, find client again! I'm actually trying to move away from the client side of things, towards commerce, and running sites for myself. My latest project - http://www.lawnsforyou.com - started up with my Dad, a lawn care expert, seems like the best prospect so far. Finding a subject expert to work with (even if it's your Dad...) is pretty useful - certainly gets around the content generation issue!

I've been meaning to get along to FOWD for a while now, this might just pursuade me to part with the cash.

Cheers!

Hmm, you really seem experienced in the area...

I am currently freelancer, elance, guru, pph, odesk, and I must say that
the income is usually ok, but not incredible either.
My personal experience was quite good, using many of them to create portfolios. Perhaps http://www.peopleperhour.com/ was what worked the most for me, as it has an ability to maintain quality in the jobs posted.

I start to believe that is impossible to be-your-own-boss.

If you could, I would like to know your opinion. I'm trying to create reviews about them, and I need more information than my personal experience.

Thank you in advance.

That is a shame. You might also want to take a look at my upcoming book entitled "Client Centric Web Design". That will cover some of the same issues.
There is more information at: http://boagworld.com/season/3/

Funny that I would run across this right as I am starting up a design firm with a friend. Sounds interesting and could be useful information but no way in hell can I afford that :/

Point to starting a firm is to make more money so I can be more financially sound!
