With so many daily design resources, how do you stay up-to-date with technology without spending too much time on it?

Here are my thoughts, but let me know what you think in the comments. I could do with all the help I can get on this one!

How to learn effectively With the web moving so fast, how do you keep up-to-date with the latest innovations?
  • Hey Paul – yeah, you’ve summed up some of the most effective ways to keep up, but let me squeeze in some of my thoughts on what works as well. First, i think some people on Quora are spotting innovative ideas in technology/design sooner than most major publications do. I respect their opinion because their opinions on what we need to keep our eyes on are not filtered by “what needs to be written about because the audience will only read certain things”. Second, I go on Kickstarter. It’s not a place where you stay updated if you’re a web designer, but did you notice how many creative individuals are coming up with great ideas, get funds, and then a month later we read about them? Sheer ingenuity changes technology before we are even aware of it.

And then there are all the people I’ve personally met while filming. I learned more new things from these amazing people I’ve met in person, than otherwise.
It was good to hear you thoughts!
